Southwest Florida beaches are consistently ranked "best of" and "top" listed beaches nationally and statewide. The white sandy beaches of Fort Myers Beach are only 400 feet away - just throw a chair on your back or load up the beach wagon to spend a day on the beach getting sun, playing in the clean waters, collecting beautiful shells or taking advantage of local water sports and tiki huts for a snack.
It's a quick drive to the beaches of Sanibel and Captiva, known for their shelling. Lover's Key is also a quick drive away and are a great place if you are looking for a quieter beach experience.
From May through August, hundreds of sea turtles lay their eggs on Fort Myers area beaches. Hatchlings emerge through October to make their way to the water. You will recognize these hatching areas as volunteer crews set up yellow-tape barriers to protect them. Please do not approach or disturb nesting females or hatchlings. Remember to fill in any holes dug on the beach to ensure the hatchlings have a clear path to make it safely to the Gulf waters.
